¡Ü Description
The MVX 84 VGA A is an 8x4 VGA is designed to route high resolution computer-video and stereo audio signals. Convenient 15-pin HD connectors are used for all computer-video input and output connections. Unbalanced stereo audio is input on 3.5 mm stereo mini jacks, while balanced or unbalanced stereo audio is output on captive screw connectors. Using pre-terminated cable assemblies, such as Extron's VGA with Audio Cables, eliminates crimping and makes installations faster and easier.
In addition, the MVX 84 VGA A comes standard with the QuickSwitch Front Panel Controller (QS-FPC¢â), which allows for touch-of-a-button input and output selection directly from the front panel. It can also be controlled through RS-232 serial control utilizing Extron's Simple Instruction Set (SIS¢â) commands, the optional IR 501 remote control, or with the Extron MCP 1000 control panel or MKP 1000 control keypad.
¡Ü Features
- 300 MHz (-3 dB) RGB video bandwidth, fully loaded — Ensures flawless switching and distribution of signals without signal degradation. The MVX matrix switchers provide 300 MHz (-3dB) of RGB video bandwidth at full performance capacity when one input signal drives all outputs.
- Triple Action Switching¢â (RGB delay) — RGB delay blanks the screen when the matrix switcher switches to a new source. The new sync signals precede the RGB signals, so there is no glitch during the transition.
- Balanced and unbalanced audio output — Balanced or unbalanced stereo audio signals are output on captive screw connectors.
- Audio input gain and attenuation — Allows users to set the level of audio gain or attenuation (-18dB to +10dB). Individual input audio levels may be adjusted so there are no noticeable volume differences when switching between sources. This can be accomplished via the front panel controls or RS-232 serial remote.
- Audio breakaway — Provides the capability to break away an audio signal from its corresponding video signal. Audio breakaway switching can be accomplished via the front panel controls or RS-232 serial remote.
- Switchable audio output levels — Output levels can be switched between professional (+4dBu) and consumer levels (-10dBV). This feature is available via RS-232 serial control only and allows users to utilize a mix of professional and consumer-level equipment.
- View I/O mode — Available via the front panel and RS-232 serial control, users can easily view which individual inputs and outputs are actively connected.
- Global presets — Individual I/O configurations may be saved and recalled either from the QuickSwitch front panel or through the serial controls. This time-saving feature allows you to set up I/O configurations and keep them in memory for future use.
- Front panel security lockout — Ideal for unsecured environments, this feature locks out all front panel functions; however, these same functions are available through RS-232 serial control.
- Downloadable firmware updates — The latest firmware can be conveniently downloaded from the Extron Web site. Updates for new features and capabilities can be easily upgraded through the RS-232 serial port.
- QuickSwitch Front Panel Controller (QS-FPC¢â) — Allows for touch-of-a-button input and output selection.
- RS-232 serial control — The MVX Series offer RS-232 serial control, allowing the switcher to be controlled via a third party control system using Extron's Simple Instruction Set (SIS¢â).
- Simple Instruction Set (SIS) — Extron's SIS is a set of basic ASCII code commands that provide simple control through a control system. Instead of programming in long, obscure strings of code, the SIS makes it easy to operate an Extron product using RS-232 control.
- Control software — For serial remote control from a PC, Extron ships Windows¢ç-based control software with every matrix switcher. This icon-driven software uses a graphical, drag-and-drop interface to make I/O configuration and other customization functions simple and convenient. This software also offers an emulation mode for configuration of an off-site matrix switcher; the I/O configuration may then be saved for future downloading to the matrix switcher.
- Optional MCP 1000 and MKP 1000 control — Utilizing the MCP 1000 master control panel, and any combination of MCP 1000 control panels or MKP 1000 control keypads, offer the flexibility to control a MVX matrix switcher from a remote location or room. Both remote control options are easy to use and provide tactile buttons for quick selection. Each MCP 1000 panel may be used for one-button switching of a particular output and selecting global presets. Each MKP 1000 keypad may be used to select a different input or preset.
- IR remote control — Basic operation of any MVX matrix switcher can be performed via the optional IR 501 remote control.
