The new Extron HPA - Half Rack Power Amplifier Series are professional-grade 100 watt rms power amplifiers unmatched in efficiency with extremely low power consumption and low heat generation. HPA Amplifiers deliver exceptional performance with a professional-grade rating of more than 100 dB signal-to-noise ratio, unweighted, and THD + Noise of less than 0.05%. As ENERGY STAR qualified amplifiers, Extron is pleased to lead the way in offering the HPA Series for "green" A/V systems. Their remarkably compact size and fanless, convection cooled operation make them ideal for restricted space, low ventilation installations normally unsuitable for amplifiers. The HPA Series is available as the HPA 502 for 4/8 ohm speaker systems and the HPA 1001-70V for 70 volt distributed speaker systems.
Key Features:
- Efficient Class D Amplifier Design - Generates substantially less heat than conventional amplifier designs, making them ideal for installation in equipment racks, credenzas, and lecterns with very limited ventilation
- Efficient Power Use - Draws less than 1 watt in standby mode to help meet green building requirements for low power consumption and reduced operating costs
- Efficient Use of Rack Space - Compact 1U, half rack width metal enclosure delivers full-sized amplifier power in less rack space than conventional amplifiers
ULTRA LOW POWER CONSUMPTION
Typical amplifiers draw a lot of power, even when they are not working. Amplifiers in the 50 to 100 watt range can draw as much as 20 watts when not producing sound. Extron HPA Series amplifiers draw only 10 watts in idle mode. Additionally, these ENERGY STAR qualified amplifiers feature a standby mode with less than one watt of power consumption, significantly reducing operating costs.
COMPACT ENCLOSURE
The HPA Series amplifiers deliver 100 watts rms output in an enclosure as little one-fourth that of more conventional amplifiers. Together with a highly efficient, convection cooled amplifier design, this enables the HPA Series to be installed in tight, limited spaces with little or no airflow.
The Extron HPA 1001-70V is a compact power amplifier designed for installation in racks and lecterns. This ENERGY STAR® qualified amplifier features a highly efficient Class D amplifier design with patented CDRS™ - Class D Ripple Suppression technology that eliminates EMI emissions and interference with wireless A/V equipment. This high efficiency allows the amplifier to be convection cooled without the need for fans and operate in environments with little or no ventilation. This professional grade amplifier delivers greater than 100 dB signal-to-noise ratio with 100 watts of continuous output power and THD of less than 0.1%. With a compact, plenum-rated 1U, half rack width enclosure, the HPA 1001-70V delivers ample power output for speaker systems in classrooms, meeting rooms, boardrooms, and commercial environments.
The HPA 1001-70V is an ENERGY STAR qualified amplifier and energy efficient product to help meet green building requirements. It consumes just 10 watts when idle and less than 1 watt in standby mode. The HPA 1001-70V enters into standby after one hour of inactivity, or when the standby port is triggered. Additionally, this amplifier is plenum-rated, allowing for a concealed installation above a drop ceiling to prevent theft while providing convenient placement of A/V equipment.
The HPA 1001-70V delivers 100 watts rms for 70 volt speaker systems in voice reinforcement and distributed audio applications.
The HPA 1001-70V accepts balanced and unbalanced input signals and includes a detented level control located on the rear panel to prevent tampering. This control allows for proper audio system gain structure. Remote control capability is available for volume adjustment and muting. Additionally, the HPA 1001-70V includes multiple protection circuits that momentarily activate when an abnormal condition, such as excessive clipping or overheating, is detected.

— The HPA 1001-70V delivers more than 100 dB signal-to-noise ratio, and 0.1% THD.
— The HPA 1001-70V is an energy efficient product to help meet green building requirements for low power consumption and reduced operating costs.
— The HPA 1001-70V generates substantially less heat than conventional amplifier designs, making it ideal for installation in equipment racks and lecterns with very limited ventilation. It consumes 10 watts when idle and less than 1 watt in standby mode.
— A patented, exclusive technology from Extron that eliminates the high frequency switching ripple and EMI emissions found in typical Class D amplifiers. CDRS enables Extron power amplifiers to be situated near wireless A/V devices without RF interference.
— The HPA 1001-70V is convection cooled without the need for fans, ensuring quiet, reliable operation.
— The HPA 1001-70V meets UL 2043 for smoke and heat release for installation within a plenum airspace above a drop ceiling. Above-the-ceiling placement conceals the amplifier to prevent theft, and is convenient for installing equipment when space inside the room is limited.
— With the capability to deliver full-sized amplifier power in one quarter to one half the size of many conventional amplifiers, the HPA 1001-70V reduces rack space requirements for many installations.
— The HPA 1001-70V automatically enters standby mode after one hour of inactivity, dramatically reducing power consumption. It quickly returns to full power status upon signal detection.
— Provides attenuation of input signals for setting proper audio system gain staging as well as two-zone applications. It is located on the rear panel to prevent users from tampering with level adjustments.
— Activate during excessive clipping, thermal overload, or DC faults to prevent damage to the amplifier and speakers.
— Enables the HPA 1001-70V to be remotely powered down when not in use, reducing operating cost.
— In basic installations without third-party control systems, this port allows the HPA 1001-70V to be remotely controlled using the optional Extron VCM 100 Series volume and mute or VC 50 volume controllers.
— Actively sums incoming left and right channel signals for mono amplification.
— This switch selectable filter rolls off frequencies below 80 Hz to prevent saturation of speaker transformers.
— Enable simple, secure connections with 22 to 14 AWG speaker cables.
— Provide convenient indication of amplifier operation from both sides of an equipment rack.
— Provides visual indication that the internal temperature has exceeded the optimal value, well in advance of the onset of thermal protection circuitry.
— The 100-240VAC, 50/60 Hz, international power supply provides worldwide power compatibility.
